Recently, Almon Instructor Herman Gould and his lovely bride set a course for adventure in beautiful Hawaii. A week scheduled with sun, fun, snorkeling and… turtles? (Ask Herman about the turtles.)
Okay… What does that have to do with Almon Inc.? Well, everything!
Let’s rewind to late January 2018 when Almon attended the Sunbelt Expo in Washington, D.C., where Steve Meyer and I set up the Almon booth and discussed the Almon Electrical Instructor-Led Training (ILT) with representatives from Sunbelt Profit Centers (PC) across the United States and Canada, including… you guessed it… Hawaii! The conversation was left to the assumption that it would likely be too expensive for us to travel and deliver the same training as the Lower 48. Although, we all volunteered!
Fast forward to late spring, when I got a call from Herman Gould for a brief chat about his upcoming “vacay” (Herman-speak for vacation). He asked about the potential of delivering training at the end of his trip to Sunbelt, prior to flying home. So, I sent out a couple of feelers and the rest just fell into place.
We worked out a plan that would allow Sunbelt to receive the same, highly-rated training without major additional costs. I’m sure that Herman was disappointed to have to extend his stay, but he took one for the team.
Finally, training was delivered to the PC group in Oahu during the second week of September, receiving the same high marks and a personal thank-you letter from the manager. They also had a visit from Olivia, a lesser-known hurricane in the Pacific that skirted the islands during the training.
Now, all this being said, our team of instructors doesn’t always work in a paradise! Those opportunities certainly are not typical, but I will tell you what is. John, Herman, Cal and Dave are on the road with our clients’ customers, working, educating, establishing new friends, and expanding Almon’s visibility and trust further in the industry.
Mahalo!
